Skills2Succeed Ltd - Part II Police Promotion Training

A. Keeble from Leicestershire wrote in February 2010

Rather belated admittedly, but I feel it only right to email you to praise your trainers following my attendance at a weekend course in Leicestershire prior to the 2009 Sergeants Part 2 examination. Despite having seventeen years’ service prior to the exam my involvement with neighbourhood policing during the last few years has been minimal, and as such I felt poorly equipped for the whole process. The course provided me with a clear structure to deal with the scenarios, and despite feeling under enormous pressure on the day of the assessment centre the framework helped me prepare for and cope with the problems the exam presented. I now hold a Part 2 pass, having come in the top 1% nationally, and whilst my own work doubtless played a part in that success, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to you for guiding me through a process which I am in no hurry to repeat! I will certainly recommend the course to anyone sitting the exam in future. Many thanks.

I will keep this brief as I don't doubt you must receive numerous e-mails like this one (if you don't, you should). In October I attended an OSPRE part 2 course run by yourself at Dunmow and shortly afterwards passed the exam. I don't expect you to remember me but I only managed to attend one day as I had to rush off to the hospital on day two as a close friend was taken ill.  Having listened to you for no more than a collective 7 hours, I was able to pass the exam. I was unable to do any further studying or practice beyond the one day session I had with you. This is an absolute credit to you and your style of teaching. I will not hesitate to recommend your course to anyone taking the exam next year. I would just like to say a very sincere and genuine thank you.

J. Waite from BTP wrote in December 2009

Just to let you know that like many other officers I received my result this morning. Thanks to your course I achieved a pass. I have heard plenty of horror stories over the years from people who have taken and failed Part 2 but I was well prepared and ready for the exam, entirely due to the preparation and knowledge that your course gave me. On the day of the exam I was relaxed prior to starting and confident after finishing, it all appeared much easier then I had prepared for, the system worked flawlessly. I will be recommending your company to any successful Part 1 candidates that will listen.
Many, many thanks

L. Wagstaff from Norfolk wrote in December 2009

I attended your part 2 course at Norfolk Constabulary HQ on 19/20th September. Just wanted you to know that I was successful and I would just like to thank you for the excellent course content and structure that you and Janey provided. The proof of the pudding really was in the models you provided - I really don’t think that I would have passed first time without your help. I will certainly be recommending your services to anyone who is going for promotion! Many thanks once again.

Just wanted to say that I attended the Part 2 Course in Bradford September 2009, and wanted to let you know that I passed my Part 2 Sgt's exam.  The instructors were fantastic and to the point during the course, and a credit to your company. A big thank you to both of them, I would never have  passed if I hadn't done the course, Money well spent as my wife has said.  Many Thanks

P. Barrett from Hants wrote in December 2009

Just a quick email to let you know that I got my Sgts Part 2 result today and am pleased to say that I passed! There is no doubt that the course I attended and content of it (the superb tool kits!) played a massive part in the change of me arriving at the course knowing nothing about the mysterious world or part 2, to knowing exactly what to do to pass! I would recommend this course to anyone seriously wanting to pass first time!

M. Deba from Essex wrote in December 2009

I attended your Sgts Part 2 training course at Dunmow on 3/4 October and you asked us to let you know if we passed the exam. Well, I'm happy to say that I did!! I feel sure that my successs was due to your excellent course that weekend and so once again I thank you. Best wishes to you and to "Skills2succeed" in the future

R. Jamieson from Warwickshire wrote in August 2009

Just wanted to say that I've a got a lot to thank your course for as I successfully passed the Sgt-Insp Part 2 exam in May 09 at the first attempt. I'm nearing 25yrs service at Xmas so if I can still pass an exam then anyone can, so long as they get the excellent help a course like this provides.

D. Knowles from Hampshire wrote in June 2009

Just to advise that I passed my Inspectors OSPRE part II recently (May 2009), having taken a 2 day course in Hampshire (my home force) a few months ago.  The skills2succeed course UNDOUBTEDLY provided me with the appropriate skills to pass this exam, and it was the best value cheque I have ever  written.  Thank you and I thoroughly recommend Skills2Succeed to all prospective
Sgts and Inspectors.

M. Simmonds from Devon & Cornwall wrote in June 2009

Hi, I attended the Sgt-Insp course in March 2009 at Crownhill. I just wanted to let you know that I've since received my results and found at that I passed.
The course was excellent as were the tutors. Prior to attending, I had a very disorganised approach to the scenarios. However, the course provided me with much needed structure and I am certain that this is a huge factor in my achieving a pass. Many thanks.

N. Allwood from Leicestershire wrote in June 2009

Have just received the news that I passed the 2009 Inspectors Part II.   I had never done Ospre previously (did the old style Sgts exam) and I had  been very apprehensive about it.  Your two day course provided me with the clear structure I needed to  tackle the stations.  I will certainly recommend your company to colleagues.  Thank you.

J. Parry from Hampshire wrote in June 2009

Just a quick note of thanks.  Inspectors OSPRE Part 2 results have come out today and I have passed!
I undertook your course at Hampshire Constabulary on the 3/4th April. I  was at first a little sceptical of your 94% pass rate claim. However I  enjoyed the course and know that I passed Part 2 as a result of it. So far, everyone that I know who also attended the same course, has also  passed.  Many Thanks agan- I will be recomending you to those officers behind me.

R. Isley from Camridgeshire wrote in June 2009

I've just returned from my holidays to find the results are out early again for this year's Insp Part II and I'm ecstatic to say that I've passed! This was my first attempt at Insp level, I also passed first time at Sgt after doing the skills2succeed course. I take no credit for that but pass it on to you and your courses which were absolutely excellent and prepared me superbly for the actual exam.
I particularly liked the no-nonsense feedback delivered then and there, some would find it uncomfortable but it really is what's required to prevent complacency. On the day I lost the plot mid exercise and fell back on the toolkits and summaries that I had been coached to use and they clearly worked very well. Thanks again and if you'd like to use my comments on your website please do feel free.

N. Crabtree from West Yorkshire wrote in June 2009

I would just like to thank you for your course I attended at Bradford in April. I have taken and failed Part II for Segeants to Inspectors three times prior to taken the exam again in May of this year. I am finally pleased to say that I passed and am now looking forward to completing an internal Promotion Board. I have taken a number of different Part II courses, but it was yours which gave me the tools to pass. Once again Thanks

K. Blakey from Lincs wrote in June 2009

Found out today I have passed Inspectors part II at first attempt. I have never done Ospre before and would never have passed it without your 2 day course. A big thank you to Janey for the 2 days at Bingham in March and thanks to Karen for fitting me in when the Lincs course was cancelled. I hope the rest of the Bingham group were as sucessful as me.

E. Watson from Norfolk wrote in January 2009

I have just received the feedback from my Part Two Ospre exam taken in November 2008. I have to say that I had been apprehensive about the exam ever since I heard of it’s existence, however I was pleasantly surprised by the break down of my results. The skills2succeed training course was excellent preparation for the exam, so much so that I left the assessment centre thinking ‘Was that really it?’ I have also noticed that the method of thinking taught on the course, especially in regards to Customer Focus has had a positive effect on my day to day Policing skills. I will thoroughly recommend the course to my colleagues. Thanks again

N. Henry from PSNI wrote in December 2008

I am very pleased to be able to tell you I passed the exam taken on 18 November 2008. Due to a computer fault at NPIA I am not yet aware of my merit position.
I would like to say a big thanks to Mel who took the course and to Karen who managed to place me on the course (I believe I was one of the last to be offered a place on the course)
I can say with confidence I learned more on this course in relation to managing people/community and customer focus than I have on any other course, either internally or externally.

S. Corcoran from PSNI wrote in December 2008

Just to let you know I passed Part 2 after completing your course with Mel.
I will definitely be recommending your course! I had absolutely no nerves on the day because I was concentrating on my plan and ensuring I covered everything within the time. I also found I had so much time between the scenarios because I was so well prepared by your course, which was actually harder than the exam.  Thanks again.

D. Dutton from Lancashire wrote in December 2008

I sat the Sgt's part 2 at the end of October and through yours and Mels help worked really hard and thought i was well prepared.   I just about passed the mock and worked on the vital advice given.
Nothing can prepare you for the actual day and i am sure i just went on auto-pilot for the duration of the exam.   I thought that i messed it up but have just had the fantastic news that i have passed!!
Can't really believe it and it hasnt sunk in yet.  Just wanted to say a massive thank you and am convinced this would not have been possible without the methods taught by yourselves.
As you know i struggled through the two day course, but really wanted to pass.  I have told everybody about your company

D. Foster from Devon & Cornwall wrote in December 2008

As promised a quick note to let you know how I got on. This was my 4th attempt, the 3 previous efforts without any formal training. I am sure that as a result of your intensive weekend training session at Crownhill Police Station Plymouth during October 2008 gave me the knowledge to finally get a pass. Money well spent, thanks again.

J. Western from Hampshire wrote in June 2008

Just to let you know that I passed my Insp Part 2 Ospre. The results were out last week.
This was my first go at the Insp Part 2 and to say that the two day crammer you ran in Hampshire back in April was essential in me passing would be an understatement. It gave me a great base from which to tackle the exam and I must admit that I felt totally at ease when I took my Part 2 on a rainy May morning at Bramshill.
I actually enjoyed taking the exam as I was fully prepared with all the toolkits and structured preparation which I got from the weekend.
Thank you very much again for all the hard work you put in over those two days. Couldn’t have done it without you and Kath!

T. Elliot from Cambridgeshire wrote in June 2008

Just got my Insp results and passed, all 27 from the force passed and I know most if not all did this course. The trainers know what they are talking about and the stations realistic. The course was actually harder than the exam. Train hard, fight easy. What have you got to lose?

R. Wilkinson from Norfolk wrote in June 2008

If you’re the sort of person who needs structure and focus in the way you approach things … without any doubt Skills 2 Succeed gives you everything you need to pass Ospre part 2.

C. Beck from Cambridgeshire wrote in March 2008

First attempt at exam with 24 years service. Brilliant course which provided toolkits to deal with scenarios. Achieved a good pass coming 43rd in the country out of 2241 candidates. Any candidate for part 2 MUST do this course who is serious about promotion. Will be back for the Inspectors
if I pass the part one exam in the future.

T. Roberts from Devon & Cornwall wrote in January 2008

Having just passed part 2 at the first attempt I would unhesitatingly recommend this course. It gives a structure to the whole process which means that even if you find yourself under pressure in a scenario you will still score points by sticking to the plan.
If you feel completely in the dark about OSPRE II this course is like someone switching the light on for you !

M. Robinson from W. Midlands wrote in January 2008

I passed my part two OSPRE exam first time! It was definitely down to Skills 2 Succeed, the course gave me a simple plan that enabled me to have confidence in my ability to pass on the day of the exam, I would recommend this course to anyone as I was taking advice from other students prior to attending this course that was too complex to apply to the scenarios. Skills 2 Succeed gives you a simple easy to follow plan and great tips to pick up those vital extra marks on the big day!

C. Cowd from Devon & Cornwall wrote in December 2007

Just got my results, failed last year whilst trying to do it myself with some colleagues. Thankfully I heard about skills2Succeed so took the course and I've passed. Many thanks to Mel who was great, tough but fair, get used to the honest feedback. The course is hard but it gave me the focus and direction I needed. If anyone is thinking of doing any other training, forget it, these people know what OSPRE is all about.

J. Hatton from Leicestershire wrote in December 2007

I don't know if you add witness testimony to your website, so, if you do, I have to say the 2 day course was very tough with a lot of very candid feedback from the instructors. By the end of the second day, I felt like I had a very easy to use, yet comprehensive structure on which to base the part 2 scenarios. I have yet to receive the full feedback from the exam and to be fair, I couldn't care less as I have passed it, but I have to say, that without undertaking the course, there is no way that I would have passed the exam first time.

R Singleton from PSNI wrote in November 2007

Have just received my feedback for my Inspectors Exam 2007 and thanks to Skills2Succeed I have come 2nd. I know that at least 3 of the top 5 candidates in 2007 used this course. The system itself is straight forward, flexible and easily customised to your own style which I think keeps your delivery natural and gives you the confidence and structure you'll need on the day. I have seen material and systems from other courses but definitely feel this is the best preparation for Part II. I have used the course at both Sergeant and Inspector level and found it great at both levels. In 2005 when I did the Sergeants I hit a brick wall in a scenario, I know that what saved me was the system, I managed to finish 15th because of my adherence to it. I cannot recommend the course highly enough. Thanks again for your help Karen

S. Dunlop from Hampshire wrote in July 2007

In 2007 I arranged and attended the Inspectors Course in Hampshire. The course itself was brain stretching but enjoyable. It was extremely well run and totally set me up for my exam. I came 53rd in the country and I gained an exceptional for the Personal Responsibility competency for which I came top in my force. I can definitely say that it was by using the course plan and tool kits that enabled me to pass my exam and with such a high mark. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wishing to pass any Ospre promotion exam.

M. Dales from Cambridgeshire wrote in July 2007

I am one of the trainers for Skills2Succeed and because of this, was under a lot of pressure to pass the Inspectors Part II exam. On the day itself I was very nervous and found the exam hard. In one of the stations I completely lost it and the only thing I had to rely on was the models that are taught on the course. I totally relied on the plan and the tool kits that we teach, and made sure I used these in every station. The results came out today, I have just found out I came in the top 1% in the country coming 9th out of 1311 people and was marked over all as an exceptional candidate. This has amazed me... I am not an Ospre genius, I just applied what I teach.  This really is proof that it works!

D. Knox from City of London wrote in June 2007:

I have just had my results for OSPRE part 2 Inspectors and I passed. I had no idea of how to compile the structure of this type of exam having never completed the OSPRE examination process before. With the help of skillstosuceed, I was given the necessary skills to help me structure my OSPRE part 2 scenarios and was thereby successful, being a bit of an old dinosaur I found this course difficult but with the toolkits and training supplied, I simply adhered to these and was rewarded with a pass. I would not have any hestitation in recommending this training to anyone taking part 2 OSPRE for sergeant or inspector

I have received my Inspector Part 2 Results, and I am pleased to say that I was successful, so another success for your training. I cannot recommend your course highly enough to any future candidates. I attended your course having never taken part in a Part 2 type exam. I found that everything you said on the course was accurate and correct. I am so impressed by the course I have already recommended it to several of my staff who have been successful in Part 1 of the Sergeants exam this year.

A Sergeant from the Metropolitan Police wrote:

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you. Prior to attending your course I had no idea at all what the Part 2 was about, and there is no doubt at all that without your course I would have been totally unsighted on the process on the day of the exam. I went into the exam with a degree of confidence which your course had given me and to my great surprise I passed the assessment center. If you can get me through this exam (and I would not have done it without your help) then I can hand on heart say that you have got your course right. I would be willing to endorse your course without hesitation and will recommend you to colleagues.

A Sergeant from Cambridgeshire wrote:

I passed my Part 2 and believe that i got the country's top score in one of the skill areas, and was the second highest score in the force. Thanks again for a great course.

An Inspector from the City of London wrote:

I attended your Ospre 2 course this year and have just had my feedback forms back and wanted to let you know the results. I passed which was great news! This has been topped off by the feedback results - exceptional in two categories and overall I came 108th out of 5486 candidates - pass mark 61.5%. I didn't really expect to pass it first time round and wanted to thank you so much, I know I couldn't have passed without attending your course.

A Detective Sergeant from Cambridgeshire wrote:

As I have now come down to earth and read it on orders I would like to thank you for all your help and the excellent course that you provided. I learnt so much on your course and was able to go away and put the structure into practise, which made it all possible. I am aware that during the course I was probably not the stongest candidate, but I was able to build on what I had learnt and use it to its full effect on the day of the exam. Can I say that the exam was scary and stressful, but with a proven structure and well planned notes, anything was possible. Thanks again for your time and your teaching, I would recommend your course to anyone who is attempting Part 2 of their exams.
